Ronan Keating chats to David Heane about his brand new single Fires, the songwriting experience, X Factor and plans for Boyzone next year.

In an open and honest interview with the Rollercoaster singer, Ronan talks about writing and putting his recent past in to his work:

"I'm not, you know, there's no songs that are like autobiographical really... I've been trying to use my imagination and stay await from that on purpose.

"Because, you know, I've hurt enough people. I don't want to hurt anyone else with my music."

RADIO  98 FM 

Ronan Keating dropped into 98FM today to tell us all about his brand new album “Fires”.  It’s released on August 31st and is the first original album for Ronan in 6 years.  He said it’s the album he’s always wanted to make and thinks we’ll be pleasantly surprised – there are only two ballads on the pop album!

Ronan said the video shows him saying goodbye to the old Ronan.  The idea of the song is to “move forward and to start again.  I’ve been in some dark places and made some mistakes”.  He told 98FM “it’s bizarre” to be out there on his own after being married to Yvonne for so long  and very different.  The couple announced their split earlier this year and Yvonne is now dating a new man.  Ronan told 98FM how he loves Twitter as it gives him a chance to speak for himself especially after the newspapers reported how devastated he was to discover his ex-wife is now in a  new relationship.  He told 98FM ”I’m delighted for Yvonne and I’m really happy she’s in a great place and she deserves to be.  The newspapers love that though – the story is crap if it’s all positive”.

Colin Farrell told 98FM how Dubliners often approach him and say they’ve seen him in “The Phonebox” or “The Toll Booth” so do the Dubs say anything to Ronan?  He joked how it happens “all the time.  I get things like it’s best when you say nothing at all or life is rollercoaster, ye sap”.  So funny!

We chatted to Ronan for over 20 minutes – the interview is gas – we talk XFactor, kissing the Spice Girls and why the lads have been giving Keith Duffy hell of late!  Stay tuned to 98FM tomorrow to hear more of the interview.
