Synopsis
A charmingly volatile British rockstar, on the verge of losing his musical collaborator and wife, Kat, has had song writer’s block since their son died a year earlier. He’s ordered to go to the backblocks of Australia, out of the public eye, to write and record a new single – for him, it’s all about winning back Kat. Once in Australia, a talented no-nonsense 12-year-old rocks his world.
The last In The Raw event for 2011 is the heartwarming script ROCKPOOL. It’s about famous rock couple Slightly and Kat, The Decks, who have been torn apart by the death of their son Tom. Slightly's in denial and going the way of Charlie Sheen when he finds out that Kat is pregnant. Their record company ships him off to Australia to write a song out of the public eye, in a bid to save the lucrative duo. But the garage studio has none of the usual rock star trappings, in fact, there’s only a 12 year old PA/cook/sound engineer. When Slightly works out that the recording gear belonged to his late son, he realises that the 12 year old Henry is much more than he seems
